2013 : The year of Dakini Awakening

I was a teacher in Delhi Public School, Jankipuram, Lucknow Branch in the year 2013. A  Mother of two Children, was busy raising them, when a chance incident of meeting at someone's house changed a part of me forever. Late Dr. Nirtund Mishra, who was a retired professor at Lucknow University was a revered name in the tantric circle. He was known to grant favours to some Ex- Chief Minister's of Lucknow and was much sought after for his tantric powers.

During a casual conversation and over a cup of tea he said to me," Take me to your home, you have it in you, so before I close my eyes forever let me teach you a process of Tantric Dakini sadhana. You have a lot of male spiritual energy in you. Let me ignite the female energy so that  you can achieve the balance." I told him about Wicca and the relationship I have with Mahadeva.

For the records, I was uncomfortabtle as my mother was against Tantricism. Wicca was fine with her but tantricism, I was thinking of the consequences.Since childhood, I would never hide anything from Ma. The Good, bad and ugly. Had to tell her everything.

Dr. Mishra seemed adamant and finally, on the way he bought a Stainless Steel Round Plate and a kilo of camphor.

The entire process was all Greek and Latin to me. He handed me  two papers with ancient mantras and instructed me to do everything mundane and complete the chants and puja regularly.

He said," I haven't seen the form of Ma and people have taken years, all in Vain. You also try. If you are pure your devotion shall please Ma in any form, Durga, Kali, Shakini, Dakini etc  to reveal her form to you in the plate and bless you."

Fair Enough, I started the Puja as guided by him and he initiated me  as his disciple and guide me perform the puja. I did it and there was a pacified look in his face. I Guided, mantras with regular intonation without any special effort, knowing that since many have failed to See Ma, I don't even have a chance. I had never done anything extra, just a puja at midnight as per the instructions given by him and without any expectations.

As I know........

Dakini! The word, the name itself is terrifying. Isn't It? A woman with dishevelled hair, delusional laughter, hysterical behaviour, drinking blood from the skull is the typical picture which we get techically, Yes. After all, this is what we have been conditioned into.

In the world full of modern civilities, people will scoff at the word or a person but it ain't the truth.

So, Do I know the truth. Perhaps Yes and perhaps No.

That brings us to the next question, Who is a Dakini?

The concept of Dakini is found in Hinduism and Buddhism. A female embodiment of enlightenment is called a Dakini in the ancient Indian language of Sanskrit.

There isn't a particular definition for them as  defying narrow  concepts is at the heart  of them. The Tibetan word for dakini, khandro, means “sky-goer” or “space-dancer,” which indicates that these ethereal awakened ones have left the confinements of solid earth and have the vastness of open space to play in and they are FREE.

The worship of Dakinis originated in India between the tenth and twelfth century. It evolved from the Chakrasamvara sadhana, where Vajrayogini appears as his yab-yum consort, to become a stand-alone practice of anuttarayoga tantra in its own right. The belief in Dakinis was transmitted to Tibet along with many Sanskrit Buddhist scriptures that were translated into Tibetan.

Dakini-Myth or Reality

Dakinis are of two kinds: In Hinduism the first describes them to be as minor goddesses or attendants of Kali. The second one is of human witches who have acquired the powers of Dakinis by imbibing Dakini Vidya and performing certain esoteric rituals. Dakinis  are mentioned in the scriptures, Tantra works and literature. dakinis are associated with the Muladhara Chakra.

Studies showed that Dakinis had magical powers. They had powers to stir up oceans through chants. Shiva in the form of Bhairava was worshipped by Dakinis and their followers. In India, the most prominent 64 Yoginis Dakini Temple is in Hirapur, Orissa. There are three others.Hirapur means the diamond city.

In Buddhism, the archetypal dakini in Tibetan Buddhism is Yeshe Tsogyal, consort of Padmasambhava.

There are five forms or types of dakinis in Buddhism. They also represent the five elements  Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Ether.

Buddha Dakini (white) Vajra Dakini (blue) Padma Dakini (red)Ratna Dakini (yellow)Karma Dakini (green).

During my 2018 vacay to Kathmandu, I was there at the Kal Bhairava Temple, on of its kind as it is a roofless temple. He is worshipped by the Hindus as the guru of Lord Shani who is ruled by the planet Saturn and as Manjusri, Heruka, Yamantaka, and Vajrabhairava in Vajrayana Buddhism.

Wicca and Dakini Tantra

Hera, in ancient Greek religion, a daughter of the Titans Cronus and Rhea, sister-wife of Zeus, and queen of the Olympian gods.  During 1500 BCE she was depicted holding a staff and a Bowl like Vajrayogini.

The World was one, once in culture, religion and trade.

What happened to my Sadhana?

On the  21 st Day, at the age of 35, the ferocious form of Ma Kali appeared in front of me, on the  Havan Plate. Shamshan Kali with dishevelled hair and and tongue out, as if decending from the above, she revealed herself on the plate.  My father was the first person to see, followed by my mother and a few others. The Plate along with a few other valuable things were robbed by people known to me.

Dr. Mishra was overwhelmed. He said that she is Shamshan Kali. Much to my embarassment,he touched my feet and offered me to take up his journey, which I refused politely. He tried to convince me, but I had already made up my mind. My younger daughter Riya (named after the Goddess )was barely six then.I did not want her to be left out and being a wiccan,I take things as they unfurl.

It was a centre of discussion as many people wanted to be in his seat and  I had shown disinterest. My spiritual journey has never looked back then.He gave me two ancient chants, powerful,as he had advised me to use it wisely and i have kept the promise. I have used it only TWICE until now!

My journey still continues and like the Dakinis I am FREE!
